Health and Safety

Participating in cycling and pedestrian activities provides many health benefits, including reducing obesity and its serious health risks.  If we cycle, hike or walk on a regular basis, we will shape up and be healthier and happier.  More time spent bicycling or walking to work, the park or school also produces other benefits such as reduced traffic congestion, less fuel consumption, and cleaner air.  Cycling and pedestrian activities, while healthful, are not without significant safety risks.  Being fully aware of these risks, and the safety measures associated with cycling and walking is the best way to prevent accidents and injuries.

Below are a number of links to websites and publications that provide information on the health benefits and safety issues associated with bicycling and pedestrian activities.
